Prussians

My first love of things Napoleonic teams up with the availability of Calpe Miniatures figures and I’m one happy gamer.

28mm Napoleonics

Napoleonic collectors traditionally have a glint of megalomania in their eyes ... and I fit right in there. Only very rarely will I ever be able to use what I have planned in one game. But still I want and plan for more.

My 28mm Napoleonics are all mostly modelled on actual formations from 1813 and the campaigns for the liberation of Germany. Current collection and firm plans include ...

For the Allies I have the Prussians as my main army supported by Austrian and Russian armies.

The plan at this stage for the French will see French, Saxons, and Bavarians lining up against the Allies.

Austrians

Not the great boring mass of white that some expect.

Russians

The warriors of the Tsar and Mother Russia storm out of the east on their way to Paris.

28mm Ancients

The Sassanid Persians are the sole representative for now. EventuaIly I would like to get an in-house historic opponent for them, either Late Romans or Byzantines. Based on my appreciation of what is currently available Late Romans are the most likely.

Sassanid Persians

The great eastern rival to both the Roman and later the Byzantine empires

28mm Italian Wars

In my opinion this period has great potential. It is a cross over period from the old ways to the new with gunpowder beginning to make its mark and low born infantry challenging the mounted nobility. A great period for colour, bitter rivalries and general chaos. I have a start in this period.

28mm ECW Scots Covenanters

I bought this army complete and have done absolutely nothing to it ... so it still looks pretty good !!

28mm Renaissance

I have some troops who don’t get out much.  A shame really. An interesting era, but then again aren’t they all.

28mm Seven Years War

When I got back into wargaming this is the period I first started painting, and it still holds a great deal of interest for me.

Prussians

I seem to have Prussians in many periods, but then what else would you expect from von Peter?

Austrians

If one collects SYW Prussians, then it would seem sensible for one to also collect SYW Austrians. So I did!

Hanoverians & French

For a while I weakened with my SYW collecting and branched out to some Hanoverian and French units. I’m not sure where these armies will end up.

28mm Colonial

A new phase of my gaming life that hasn’t really started yet. It will most likely not be strictly historic with an emphasis on the weird, whacky and fun.

WWII

I have acquired some GHQ 1/285 Soviets and have some vague plans to get some opposing Germans ... at some stage.

20mm WWII has also been discussed with some like minded nutters friends.  Once again I’m not sure when this may occur.

18mm Napoleonics

I think I mentioned meglomania and Napoleonics. Well here is more living proof. Not content with collecting way too many 28mm Napoleonic figures I have also started an 18mm collection. The idea here is to be able to play Corps size games as opposed to our brigade or divisional level 28mm games.

The original idea was hatched several years ago and we went hunting for 10mm armies. It turned out to be an idea ahead of its time as, unlike today, there were not many 10mm manufacturers to choose from and those that there were proved unresponsive and/or had limited ranges. Then we discovered AB figures and the project quickly mutated into an 18mm project.

French

Well they were a major protagonist. Not much in the way of martial endeavours took place without their presence!

Saxons (post 1810)

I have a soft spot for the later Saxons. Beautiful cavalry, and the infantry isn’t too bad either.

The Friday Night Fusiliers International Battalions

My part in a truly international military unit and the outing of Fusilier ADC Peter, an alter ego of von Peter himself

But wait, there’s more ....

Some assorted others periods. A real wargamer can never have enough projects or too many unpainted figures.

Dark Elves

I fell for the Dark Elves early when my good friend Terry showed me pictures of some Witch Elves - what can I say I was young and impressionable!

A truly evil race they made a nice change for my normal goodie goodie armies.

Undead

What’s fantasy gaming if it’s not skeletons and great evil from beyond the grave?

Fantasy

I’m getting back into Fantasy gaming because of our son Simon. He has started an Orcs and Goblins army so I decided that a father-son project was in order. The glory of an Empire army shall be created to fight back the greenskins, but it will not be my first foray into the world of fantasy figures. Being able to just walk into a shop locally and buy a figure has seen me do just that many times over the years!

Empire

I think that it is fair to say that the Empire is not a power army in Warhammer Fantasy Battle, at least the way I want to play it anyway, so using it can be a challenge. I also like the fact that the imagery of the Empire is based on an early renaissance Germanic theme. Wonderful!
