Recently, I was asked by Darin Murphy and Paul Minor to participate in the “Hoot For Bangladesh” benefitting the Austin Habitat For Humanity.
I was asked to perform the show-stopping Billy Preston classic, “That’s The Way God Planned It” and in keeping with the spirit of the “hoot night” style I wore some vintage apparel to try and recreate the look of the show. As you can see from this clip, I am dressed as closely to the costume as possible. As you will also notice, I did the dance as well.
I must tell you up front that this song truly moves me and inspires me every time I hear it and that performing it with such a stellar lineup of Austin’s best musicians helped to make it something that I will never forget.
Among the members of the audience packed into the Hole In The Wall to witness this amazing event were rock n’ roll legends, Miss Pamela Des Barres and David Byrne, and a crowd full of my musical peers and of course my friends.
