DAS DORES tells the story of two teenagers that end up trapped in an abandoned petrol station while trying to run away from home. Their car ran out of fuel and they are looking for a way out of there. While they get a chance to reconsider if running away together is such a good idea, strange noises and events enwrapped them and it becomes apparent that beyond their actions lies another - always repeating - pattern.
In order to show this, the film employs an unusual structure: we see the story of this young couple repeated three times with three different sound designs and soundtracks: first, with a suspense soundtrack, then with comical music and finally with a tragic/romantic one.
The two characters, though locked in an eternal repetition, seem to be strangely aware of it and show that there can be evolution and change even within the restraints of a repeated image - and together with the couple's journey, the film also undergoes an important change: as the film develops, we witness a strange inversion: where there used to be images followed by music, the music seems to take charge and - as in a dance - invites the images to tag along.
