... according to the Chinese lunar calendar. Apparently already the whole month, but especially today. The consequence of the gates of the hell being open is that spirits/ghosts can escape and walk the earth. Those spirits than have to be kept happy by the humans, what best can be done buy burning things (I am still investigating, what exactly is being burnt) and having opera performances (of operas that deal with the fate of certain spirits. Today is an especially important day and you can realize this, when you walk the streets. Everywhere, people are making fires and burning incents.
Maybe it was also linked to the gates of the hell being open that the beach party sponsored by Heineken we (meaning the AIESEC trainees) attended was so particullarly bad. I don‘t go into all the details (because it would take up a lot of space and I still would have missed some point), but so much be said: if one wanted to make a case-study about how to NOT run a party, this party would make a good sample. One point, for example, would be that a beach-party, sponsored by a beer-brand, should have a beer-stant on the beach and not half a kilometer away in the jungle. Anyway.
Besides that me and three other trainees started our flat search and did so quite successfully. Though, there are for some reason hardly any flats with 4 bedrooms in Hong Kong. So, keep fingers crossed for us that we find one that is within our budget :)
