Congrats to Jimmy and Courtney - engaged after a short 20 years of dating.  No details on the wedding yet.

Manny Ramirez is no longer a Red Sox!  Very sad.  The Big Papi/Manny Ramirez combo was the most dominant hitting twosome during their pairing in Boston.  Lots of excitement, two MLB Championships, and always hope for a win in a close game.  Hate that things went the way they did in recent weeks, the Sox are definitely worse off than they were at the beginning of the season with a happy Manny.

Anne’s been watching a lot of Poker lately.  “High Stakes Poker” on GSN is showing a cash game with lots of the great modern players - playing with their own money and doing lots of talking.  I find it far more fascinating than the tournament coverage, and Gabe Kaplan is a great commentator.  Watching it really makes me want to play.

So Anne and I went heads up the other night.  She kept trying to get me to crack by talking - which actually made me laugh every time.  I’m sure there is a tell in there somewhere, but I couldn’t stop laughing whether I had garbage or the nuts.  Anyway, we bet that winner got to pick tonight’s movie.

I picked “X Files: I Want To Believe.”  It was ok.  Not bad but never hit the highs of the show.  We came home and watched a couple of episodes of the series -- much better.  If you’re jonesing for some non-conspiracy/non-alien abduction X-Files, I recommend “War of the Coprophages” - Season 3, episode 12.  Hilarious episode with entomologist Dr. Bambi.  Just fantastic dialogue and an incredibly witty script.  Great television.

Oh yeah - and it’s Shark Week.  Had no idea Anne would be so interested in this - but she is.  The DVR is busting full with HD shark footage.  I’m not that interested, but footage of any animal predator in HD is hard to turn away from.  Amazing.  Anne’s skimming through shark footage as I type and occasionally asking me to look at some of it.  She’s adorable.  I love my wife.
