We’re settled in at our house - so far so good. CNN is trying to hype the storm with crazy stories about how people in Galveston have been told “Get out or risk certain death.” As long as they aren’t risking an uncertain death.
Thanks to those who have called to check on us. We do appreciate it. It’s 8:30pm and all that’s happened here is a bit higher wind than normal. We got the tubs filled up with water, the coolers are filled with ice, and I’ve got the ice cream toppings at the ready in case the power goes out and I have to eat all our ice cream before it melts. It’s a tough job, but someone has to do it!
As you can see, I’m not too terribly worried. My wife is a bit nervous and I feel terribly for my brother-in-law whose house is near Kemah, which looks like it is already getting hit pretty hard. Really hoping his house makes it through this relatively unscathed.
I asked Anne if she had anything to say to those who might be concerned and she said “see you in a couple days?” The news reporters are telling their audience to prepare to lose power for a few days, and possibly as long as a couple of weeks. Of course, if the airport opens up on Monday, I’m heading to our San Jose timeshare, whether our house has power or not! :)
Anyway, stay tuned.
