Towards the end of March, my sister and her Fiance Filip visited for a week from London.  Pictures of their week are here.  We took them to the zoo to see “the world’s cutest creature,” Toby, and generally ate a lot of bad American food.  Not good for me in my non-workout state, but so good.

We took my sister and Filip to the San Jacinto monument where we learned about “one of the most decisive battles in world history.”  Texas won it’s freedom from Mexico in the 18-minute battle of San Jacinto where 630 Mexican soldiers were killed and 730 were taken prisoner.  Only 9 Texans were killed or mortally wounded in the battle.  Nine.  Absolutely amazing.  I saw the film on this and still can’t fathom how only 9 Texans were killed.  It boggles the mind.

At the end of March, my team at work launched it’s first two dedicated medical products - an ultrasound software toolkit and a DSP starter kit for medical imaging.  See here to check out our snazzy new web page and download one of the three white papers I wrote.  Yes, they monitor downloads so go ahead and check them out. :)  Anyway, we’re pretty excited about this at work and looking forward to many more customers as these products roll out.

In mid-April, I took a long weekend to go to Albuquerque with Rook, Regan and Mike.  A much needed weekend away with my friends.  The idea was one last weekend of basketball before my back completely deteriorates.  The four of us only got to run a single game before injury struck -- this time it was Michael who went down with a fractured wrist.  Perhaps we can try again in 51 weeks - just before our year membership at the Senior Center expires.

Oh, and Regan -- put away those dishes!
Toby, billed as the world’s cutest creature - recently made his debut at the Houston Zoo.
