Paula Bär-Giese started her study at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague were she studied piano with the pianist Else Krijgsman. She graduated with honour ("cum laude") and went on to study with de pianist Alwin Bär at the Conservatory in Utrecht.

In the mean time she studied singing with the coloratura soprano Marianne Blok. She participated many master classes with great pianists such as Michail Woshkrezensky, Claude Helffer and György Sebok. After graduating as a soloist she went on to study singing. Her voice is a brilliant lyrical soprano. ( listen to Vincenzio Bellini)

Paulas singing repertoire is various: she sung a lot of operetta in the "Franz Lehár-trio" but also sings opera, oratorio and is a dedicated interpreter of the French songs.

With the lute player and guitarist Hans Meijer, she found a new challenge in rediscovering,  performing and recording  medieval and renaissance music.

She also plays a lot on historical pianos and other historical ancestors. She gives many concerts where she sings and at the same time accompanies herself at the piano-(forte). This is common use in pop music, but not in the technical more challenging classical music. In this way she creates a perfect union between the singing and the accompaniment.
