Medics for Timbuktu is a subgroup of the Hay and Timbuktu Twinning Initiative. By building friendships between the people and health care professionals in Hay and Timbuktu we want to make a difference to the health and well being of both communities. In February 2008 a group from Hay travelled to Timbuktu to learn about the Health Care system in Mali and the challenges they face. In November 2008 Dr Albouhary Toure and Mr Elmehdi Ag Wakina came to Hay on Wye to learn about the different challenges we face in the UK and to help us develop a project that will change lives in both communities.
