As part of the process of gearing myself up for long periods of waiting for anything to happen, I decided to try running the popular Mini vMac Macintosh Plus emulator on my Classic II. I’m VERY happy to report that it runs, and actually runs rather well considering that it’s a 16MHz 68030 with 10 megs of RAM running System 7.0.1 emulating an 8MHz 68000 with 4 megs of RAM running System 1.0. It was actually quite responsive, and took less than 10 hours to boot. I am pleasantly surprised. If this is any indication of the power of the Classic II, then Linux had better watch itself, because it won’t know what hit it. Still waiting on the HDD, hope to have it next week. Until then, still researching, and doing little pointless projects like this :P
