The HDD that Ian Nixon kindly donated to this project has arrived. It’s 800 megs and it works great. I have copied the entire contents of the Classic II’s internal HDD onto it and unplugged the internal drive to protect my personal data during this project. It is now booting off the external drive quite reliably. All is looking good for starting the hardest part of this project (actually installing Linux) very soon.
