It has been maybe three years since we first met Marc van der Woude (a 200+ cm tall Dutchman) and got introduced to Connect Europe: “an international community of friends who love Jesus Christ, and try to follow Him in costly obedience.” You can read all about CE here and get to know Marc here.
We share similar outlooks with the Connect crowd as well as the same mission field - Europe. We also share the same faith and hope that God has not given up on Europe and that we may yet see a great spiritual revival here.
Earlier this year we got the sense that we need to begin taking steps towards connecting believers here in the Czech Republic. Our focus is on the emerging church and emerging leaders (I know this is a well used buzz word that can mean lots of things so I’ll try to explain what I mean in one of my future entries.). We called together several like-minded people from around Czech to meet for a time of sharing and prayer. The event was hosted by Vitek and Lucie Skalovi at the prayer house they established in a village in East Bohemia called Senozaty. In the end there was about 18 of us including kids.
As we were sharing about our ministries, our hopes and about what we see God doing in our lives there was a very special sense of connection. As if the Holy Spirit had been sharing mutually complementing pieces of the same vision with each of us. I believe we glimpsed a vision of God’s hart for the Czech nation - to uncover the ancient wells of faith that have been filled up by centuries of junk and dust so that the Czechs can drink, repent and discover their calling and destiny as people of God and a nation that has a special place in God’s global plans.
We left with a sense of excitement and a plan to call together similar but slightly larger meeting sometime in October.
