Last wednesday while we were enjoying our family vacation in the best place on earth for families with children (Taize), I got a phone call from our attorney saying that one hour! before she was supposed to sign purchase agreement for the Rivenhill property our bank reversed their decision and denied our mortgage loan!  This ‘no’ came after months of affirmative statements from both our financial advisor and the bank.  They said they didn’t like the property and that our income was not high enough - things they could have said to us right at the start before we signed a any agreements.

Well we are now  back in Prague and I will speak with our lawyer today or tomorrow to find out the consequences.  According to the reservation agreement, which we signed a month and a half ago, we are liable to pay a fine to the seller for failing to purchase the place by July 31.  Our financial advisor found another bank that is willing to loan us the money now, but I don’t even know yet if the seller would still consider another offer from us.

So what now?  I am not sure at the moment.  Is this another obstacle on the way that needs to be overcome in faith?  Or a definite “NO” from God for which we have been asking.  We are sometimes heard of hearing when it comes to following God’s direction.
