This year Jan is privileged to go to two hockey camps. The first one is just over today. It is a Christian hockey camp organized by Hockey Ministries International in cooperation with the Czech Brethren church (the denomination we are part of here in Czech).
The kids get to train with several NHL players and also hear testimonies from them as well as teachings from the Bible couple of times a day. And at the end of their ice time they all kneel and pray - an unusual sight on the Czech ice. There were people from Canada, the US, Scandinavia, Poland, Czech and who knows from where else. Some of the kids are believers and others are not so there are lots of opportunities for witnessing.
And Jan’s highlight? He got to meet Glenn “Chico” Resch - a former NHL goalie and Stanley cup winner. This is what Chico says about the church:
"Today, a church is not only a dwelling or building, but also something much more fluid. Sometimes the church is a rink, locker room, hotel lobby or an encounter that takes place on the ice."
And since Chico is a goalie Jan’s desire to be a goalie somehow resurfaced again. Never a dull moment with Jan!
