SCHOLARSHIPS

Scholarships for the choirs of the Department of Performing Arts at Crichton College are based on an audition process and upcoming vocal/choral needs within the choral area. Scholarships range greatly and offer a wide variety of financial opportunities for students. To audition, simply contact the director, Mr. Michael Williams, via e-mail, and set up a time to audition (mwilliams@crichton.edu). We want singers of all abilities and talents! Scholarships are awarded based on current needs for the choirs combined with financial needs for current and incoming students. The MOST IMPORTANT part of your scholarship is your FAFSA!!! If you have not completed your FAFSA, we cannot assign scholarships. We CAN complete the audition process and reserve tentative scholarship amounts (based on  your audition), but we cannot award any amount until your FAFSA information is sent to the school, AND a copy of your information is given to the DPA. This is the process for all colleges and universities, so get those FAFSA forms completed online (Online FAFSA Application).

AUDITIONS

The audition process is fairly simple, and not something to fear. Students wishing to audition prepare two short musical selections, to be sung a capella (without accompaniment), that demonstrates their best vocal range and choral abilities. Along with the prepared piece, auditioning students are vocalized, working one on one with the director for vocal ability, pitch matching, tone color, and vocal stamina.

AUDITIONS

The audition process is not something to fear. Students wishing to audition prepare two, three minute monologues of contrasting styles (Shakespearean/modern, comedic/dramatic, etc.) and present them, from memory, for the director. Following the audition is an honest discussion with the director about upcoming needs in theatre and possible roles/placement for the auditioner.
