ABOUT US
It was a dream come true when Dominic Cardinal Ekandem, with the blessing of the Catholic Bishops of Nigeria gathered on Mission Sunday, October 1977 for the opening of the Missionary Society of St Paul (MSP).
The founding of MSP was a response to the teaching of Jesus (see Mark 16:15) and Vatican II’s call on young Churches emphasized by Pope Paul VI in Uganda in 1969. An enthusiastic young Africa Church responded to the call to share in the global work of the universal Church. Ordination of MSP priests began in 1985.
MSP priests now number approximately 200. MSP has an overflowing seminary with more than 100 seminaries in West Africa. In addition to serving the needs of America Catholics, MSP priest serve Christ’s people in Botswana, Cameroon, Chad, England, Grenada, Liberia, Malawi, Nigeria, South Africa and Sweden.
