Selection of media for training should be done only while following the PBET Steps!  Remember: the performance objectives should be pulling all the cars in the training train (not media).  The objective should inform your choice of media  for training delivery.  All of this is discussed during the PBET Workshop.  That said, the ideas on this page may be helpful.

  1. Bullet“Of Blizzards and Guidelines” - Text of Message to TPIC, July 2006.  Though not exclusively about eLearning, it provides a PBET view of, among other things, “rapid development” and Michael Allen’s Guide to e-Learning. Download the 16 pg pdf file: OfBlizzards&Guidelines.pdf

  1. Bullet“We only remember 10% of what we hear,...”  This is the beginning of a series of oft-cited statistics used to encourage more interaction in e-learning.  The only problem is- the statistics are bogus.  See: Will Thalheimer’s Blog.

  2. BulletWorkshop Handouts from The TechKnowledge Conferences - ASTD has been sponsoring the TechKnowledge Conference for several years.  Each year, many workshops on e-learning are conducted and the workshop handouts are still available for download.  There is a wealth of information available here - both good and bad - but well worth the search, in my view.
