Solid Performance Solutions

Selection of media for training should be done only while following the PBET Steps! Remember: the performance objectives should be pulling all the cars in the training train (not media). The objective should inform your choice of media for training delivery. All of this is discussed during the PBET Workshop. That said, the ideas on this page may be helpful.
Check out their list and other research products. Also of interest, their 2004 “PowerPoint to E-Learning Shootout.” It is dated but gives a good idea of comparative scores of different products.
A Few eLearning Products are Featured By SPS:
Articulate Rapid E-Learning Studio. Check out the overview of products. There are 3 - 4 software programs packaged together, depending on whether you purchase the standard package (US$1,347) or the Pro package (US$1,846). Sales are sometimes offered at the site. The package leverages off MS PowerPoint; all of the development of the e-learning is done within an enhanced menu on the PowerPoint application. Also offered is Articulate Online, a program which offers hosted eLearning: you can publish lessons to their site and get quiz and other usage tracking without an LMS; it costs $200 to $500 a month, depending on the plan.
Impatica Products. Check out the two products. This is another PowerPoint converter. Expect to spend about US$1500 for both products. This is the only product line (I know of) with a Mac compatible offering.
University of Oklahoma. Some people at the University of Oklahoma developed a program to create e-learning and it is available for free! Just download it. How come? They wanted to create a program that has built in 508 Compliance features. They call it, AccessibleTrainingBuilder. Check it out here at www.AccessibleTrainingBuilder.com.
Persistech/Infrature Products. One product is called Course Builder. “An authoring program that makes creating, maintaining, and improving your training materials a breeze.” Resulting courses work equally well on PC or web. Word and PowerPoint compiler. For this single product: US$495 www.infrature.com
Adobe eLearning Solutions. Check out the overview of products. I am not personally familiar with the Adobe products, but my sense is there are too many products with overlapping capabilities. They are not inexpensive either. However, one product worth investigating, and many people like, is Adobe Captivate 2. Use it to: Create a simulation of software by copying/recording user steps; Create a branched interactive simulation; Create a scenario based simulation; Include quizzes; Full control of design/look of final product. US$599 Check out Captivate.
