answered prayers.

Our hearts are full.   So much to be thankful for.

We waited all morning for my mom to call.  After getting an “all clear thus far” report from my mom’s PET scan this summer, her doctor thought it was best if she took one month off her chemo schedule to see how her body and the cancer would react.  She has been off her treatments for a month now.  Today, they did another PET scan to see what has happened in her body this past month.  The report--still ALL CLEAR!  We know that it can grow back at any time, but we are so thankful that for now, it is gone.  She will start a new chemotherapy since the cancer has not returned yet.  It is a pill that has fewer side effects, that will require no more weekly travels to Sioux Falls, and will hopefully allow her to enjoy life a bit more.  With that said, she hasn’t allowed any of this to slow her down too much.  She does sleep more...but we have concluded she’s finally adhering to the average person’s working schedule. :)  She’s teaching a full load at Dordt College this semester and, as usual, is still involved in many other things. She’s received so many blessings from her students and colleagues, from church members, from friends, from our family...thank you so much, from the bottom of our hearts, to everyone who has loved and encouraged my mom and family throughout her journey with cancer.  Words cannot describe how much it means to us, especially as we sit on the other side of the ocean.

Please join us in praising God for the good news we’ve received. And we’d love it if you could continue to pray for future protection from the cancer.
