following a long established professional relationship with the Palace Theatre, Redditch, Indigo’s Director of Music - Malcolm Carlton, was asked to come up with a musical creation for the ‘soft opening’ of the newly refurbished theatre. His idea was to create a musical for Redditch, drawing on some of the fascinating history of the town.

Indigo agreed to support him in this project, helping to draw together a musical theatre company with the kind of singing, acting and dancing skill, which would enable the production to develop at the pace & to the high standard demanded by this project.. Working with Kingsley College & the Palace Theatre, a team was put together which would bring young & new blood to a new and exciting venture for Redditch . . . and so the Red Ditch musical theatre company was born!

Productions

The musical ‘Eye of a Needle’, was due to be performed at the Palace Theatre on Saturday 15th April 2006, providing the first ‘trial’ show for the new environment. Unfortunately the refurbishment had fallen well behind schedule & the ‘soft opening’ was cancelled. The first production of the new company and the new show therefore took place to a very appreciative audience at Studley Village Hall, Warwickshire, on the same evening.

The musical & Red Ditch Musical Theatre Company are now set to make their Palace debut on 16 & 17 of February 2007, and are busy preparing for the show which has now been extended to a full length production. Rehearsals are due to start up again later this year, for what promises to be a very exciting future for this new and dynamic young company.
