In the midst of all the gloom and doom, a mysterious competition is launched, to find the soul of the city. What/who gives it its rhythm, its beat? This competition has been launched across cities nationwide, no one knows by whom, but leaflets & posters are being passed around everywhere. Those who can sing, and have a performance to give, are being targeted, and a space has been allocated where they can all come together to fight for the title, whatever their background.
Competition amongst the various groups is enormous, arguments & fights break out over allocation of time, resources, who is better than who, who deserves more than who, and prejudice, pride, misinterpretation, antagonism etc run wild, whilst emotions are in turmoil. Only when one of the geeks who has actually read every word of the leaflet points out to everybody, in the middle of one of these battles, that the competition is trying to find the city with the most soul, does it finally dawn on everyone that to stand a chance, they all have to work together, using the one thing they all have in common . . . their passion for music.
Excitement builds as they all work towards the day that they will receive a text telling them where and when the competition will take place – it could be any time – and they must be ready.
