How Coaching Works
Coaching is a series of conversations between you and your coach. You meet or phone every week or two for an hour or so. The conversation is on subjects of your choosing, but your coach - an experienced business executive and coach - will help you focus it on topics that are relevant to your goals. Your coach may offer suggestions for your consideration - things that have worked for others in the past in similar situations. He will ask you questions designed to help you think about problems and issues in a new way, and arrive at new directions and ways of dealing with issues that help you move in the direction you need to go to achieve your dreams.
The sessions are confidential (your coach keeps no notes, and discusses the sessions with no one but you.) Your coach is objective and impartial, except that he is on your side, and works to help you achieve what you have decided to achieve.
Many successful people have increased their achievement through a coach for two good reasons:
• The process of talking about your concerns, issues, problems and goals in a conversation forces you to clarify them. This helps you take what may be vague and confusing emotional issues and ideas and put them in a logical form, making them easier to deal with in a rational way.

•The goals, desires and tactics you arrive at are yours; your coach doesn’t tell you what to do. For this reason, you are committed to accomplishing them and carrying out what you need to do.

•When you commit to doing something, you tell your coach. This is a psychologically proven technique to motivate yourself to follow through. Even though your coach will never criticize you for not taking an action you had committed to, you will have made the commitment, and you know you will discuss the results - good or bad - of your action plan.
