About the Photographer

Who am I?

I started my love of film in my early childhood when my Grandfather introduced me to creative home movies using the 35 mm movie film format.  My uncle introduced me to still photography and to the processing of still film in a backyard darkroom.  I later learnt some darkroom skills whilst in primary school and from these early beginnings, I continued to use a range finder camera through to my teens, where I finally received my first SLR film camera as a gift.  I have travelled widely, including the Middle East, Africa and Asia and these experiences have nurtured my love of capturing people and events.

Work flow

I now use a fully digital work flow, complete from Professional Canon (full frame sensor) cameras, Apple Macintosh computers using professional editing software and calibrated proofing tools.  I utilise a local trusted pro photo printing lab, which provides me with excellent results that can last hundreds of years!

Work and Education

I have worked as a Chef, which assisted in the development of my creative skills. I later worked on undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications, including a Masters Degree in Information Technology and a Diploma of Professional Photography.  Technology and photography go hand-in-hand and I stay abreast of these changes by continuing to advance my skills through short courses and industry seminars, such as those offered by the Australian Institute of Professional Photographers.

Community

I am a committed member of my Church and also serve the community as a Justice of the Peace, Cub Scout Leader and as a Commissioned Army Officer.

What makes a good photographer?

Anyone can take a photo.  With the large number of increasingly affordable digital cameras on the market, everyone thinks they can take photos - and this is true to an extent.  My training, experience and skills are in capturing the moment, capitalising on lighting and context, producing true-to-life fine art for clients to admire for an age and beyond.  It’s an emotional experience for me and I truly love what I do!

I have had a diverse background and have returned to creative roots to capitalise on my key strengths.  I am motivated by my love to help people and providing them with timeless memories, that will be around long after they have passed - I want to assist you to build your family heritage. This is my motivation. I’m so blessed!!
