My Mother, Maria Guadalupe Montaño Gutirrez passed away on Sunday, July 13th at approximately 5:30 P.M. at Western Medical Center.  She spent one entire month in the hospital due to a ruptured ulcer in her intestinal tract, and she never recovered from that.  My Mom was a fighter and spent the entire month battling an infection that caused her untimely departure from us.

We are all struggling to cope with her absence from our family since she left some mighty large footprints.  As my Father describes her, she was the sun that kept us warm and brightened up our days.  Our entire family revolved around her like the planets in our solar system, and now we have to find a way to maintain that connection. 

My Mother was a great woman.  She fought and protected all of us, and always found a way to push us farther than we could ever dream of.  I know for a fact that I would not the be the man I am now if it wasn’t for my Mother.  I owe everything I have and everything I am to her.
