A. Fox Assumes New Post Ensuring the Safety of Gallus gallus Abode (Margaret Chan Starts Her New Job at the WHO)

Margaret Chan assumed formal control of the WHO as Director-General today.

I have argued here, here, here and here that she is a terrible choice for Director-General because the country she represents, China, is responsible for creating the conditions that resulted in H5N1 becoming a monster virus, covered up numerous outbreaks and refused to provide much needed samples to the international scientific community.

Apparently, a few in the MSM have also considered this possibility.

Chan is also likely to be rated on how well she can get the Chinese government to cooperate
with global efforts to contain infectious diseases like bird flu. China has been criticized for
dragging its feet in reporting outbreaks to WHO and supplying virus samples to the global health
    community for analysis.

She said she remained the best qualified person to obtain Chinese cooperation, but she
declined to say when she expected her efforts to bring results.

Gee, really?  Huh, I would have thought that if she really had the cooperation of the Government of China, she'd be able to provide a definite timetable for the Chinese government to provide access to samples from all their human cases.  Why, if everything is left indefinite, there might be no progress at all!

But don't worry, she and the Government of China have promised that everything is going to be just fine.

    From: CNN

After her appointment Chan said she was proud to be Chinese but pledged to be independent of
    China or any other country.

But she said she hoped to have high-level access to Chinese officials to encourage better
cooperation on such issues as the sharing of information on disease outbreaks in the country.

China has been criticized for dragging its feet in reporting outbreaks of bird flu to WHO and
supplying virus samples to the global health community for analysis.

Top Chinese officials have said since Chan's election that they intended to improve cooperation.

In other news, A. Fox has assumed his new post as Guardian of the Gallus gallus residence. In response to questions as to how he would handle raiding parties from the Vulpines,  A. Fox answered that because he knew the the leaders of the Vulpines very well, he was the perfect choice to get them to co-operate with the protection of the Galliformes.

Then he burped and spit out a feather.
