The Mongoose Chronicle

Well, life has been very full the past few weeks and we have much we’d like to share with you.  But before we talk about anything else...

Alicia and I are having a baby!

We are expecting a baby boy in April 2010 and are so excited.  And, of course, we are feeling a healthy amount of fear.  Mostly, we are grateful that God would allow us to have this gift of a growing family.

In African culture, having kids is a big deal.  When people (especially in Uganda and Rwanda) ask us how long we have been married (and we reply “Almost 5 years”) and then ask us how many kids we have, (and we say “None yet”)  their faces usually fall and they are so sad for us.  Sometimes they tell us they are sorry.  So, we are excited to be able to tell them that we finally have a little one on the way.  There will be much rejoicing when I break the news to our dear friends in Uganda in January.

We are planning to have our son here in South Africa.  There are some good hospitals around here and one is pretty close to our new place of residence. (Umm... more news, we moved again - see out front page for our new address.)

So that I am not a total hypocrite when I start lecturing our son on the importance of going to college (I probably won’t start in on this right away, but its never too soon really), I will be finishing up a couple of courses at Cornerstone Christian College in June 2010 so that I can complete my degree.  Once that is done, and Mom and Baby are ready to travel, our hope is to move back home to Colorado. (Again, more news for another time. I did say “Part One” above, didn’t I?)

We love all of you. Thank you for believing in us and for making our time here possible.  Thanks for being here for us to share this exciting news.

Big News! (Part One)
