Cabot School’s performing arts center

The Cabot School Music Program rehearses in an extremely limited 20 x 20 space in which students must share chairs and are literally elbow-to-elbow.  Despite this challenge,  participation levels in the performing arts program are at an astounding 66% vs. the state average of 40%.

On March 4 the Town of Cabot voted to support half of the funds necessary to construct a 2800 sq ft.  black box theater that will serve as both a classroom and performance space.  The remaining 50% of the funds will be raised by July 1, 2008.

Thus marks the Black Box Capital Campaign.

Since Februrary’s vote over $21,000 has been raised, leaving and additional $54,000 to be raised.

Costs for this project have remained low because of the extraordinary grass-roots effort behind the project.  Local businesses, contractors and community members have come together in support of this project volunteering their services and labor.  In essence, a modern-day barn raising for The Cabot School.
