MOIRA EGAN

Ciao, amici, ciao!
Moira Egan is the author of Cleave (WWPH, 2004), which was nominated for the National Book Award and was a Finalist for the ForeWord Book of the Year. Every once in a while, a copy becomes available on some used book site or Amazon. La Seta della Cravatta/The Silk of the Tie, a bi-lingual collection of her poems with Italian versions by Damiano Abeni, has just been published by Edizioni L’Obliquo (Brescia). Bar Napkin Sonnets won The Ledge Chapbook Competition and will appear later in 2009; SPIN will arrive in 2010 courtesy of Entasis Press.

Her poems have appeared in many journals, including American Letters & Commentary, Barrow Street, Boulevard, Gargoyle, Hampden-Sydney Poetry Review, Notre Dame Review, Prairie Schooner, POETRY, and West Branch, and in translation in Nuovi Argomenti and Lo Straniero (Italy). Work also appears in the anthologies Best American Poetry 2008; Discovering Genre: Poetry (Prestwick House); Hbula Stirati (Malta); Kindled Terraces: American Poets in Greece (Truman State University Press); Letters to the World: Poems from the Wom-po Listserv (Red Hen Press); the Literal Latte Anthology; Lofty Dogmas: Poets on Poetics (University of Arkansas Press); and Sex & Chocolate (Paycock Press). More poems are forthcoming in 2009 in The Poet’s Cookbook (Bordighera Press) and in Poesie per anime gemelle, an Italian anthology featuring love poems by women (Newton Compton Editori).

Moira has taught creative writing and literature at The Johns Hopkins University, the Smithsonian Institute’s Resident Associates Program, Towson University, Morgan State University, Anatolia College (Greece), The Writer’s Center (Bethesda, MD), and the West Chester Poetry Conference (“Teaching Form”).
