Born in Los Angeles and raised in Portland Oregon.  Jude’s fashion education began at around age 6 via the Maryhill Museum of Art where his mother worked.  The museum is renown for its collection of haute couture mannequins, Faberge jewels, Romanian Arts and Crafts as well as Russian Icons and Rodin sculptures.  

Mr. Gabbard is a world traveler that has studied fashion extensively inside and outside traditional academic structures.  As the first American admitted to one of Russia’s most prestigious design schools, he made history with his award winning collection called “kak ya vam vizhu” at the International Concourse of Young Designers.  

While living in Mexico he learned traditional construction of Mexican costumes from Pueblo and  Huichol natives while studying weaving and textile design at the Bellas Artes.  In 2007 he was part of an expedition into rural China investigating the textile cultures of the Buyi and Miao peoples.  The expedition will air nationally as a PBS documentary this fall.

Professional highlights include a trunk show at Henri Bendel’s, working as a consultant for Levi Strauss, and designing for rainshawl Boston and Catherine Jane Inc.
