If you don't own a hat this year, you are hopelessly out of style.  They're all over the beaches in the Riviera from trilbys to huge cartwheels.  Men, women and children.  

 

Hats are back, and not in the one season trend sort of way, but rather in the 19th c. hats are de rigeur sort of way.  I own three.   A very cool knit number from modnik, an amazing grosgrain fedora from Goorin Bros.  and now an amazing print bucket style from Hermes.  The style is classic, casual and perfect for the shore.  The Talouse Lautrec print is so subtle and best of all no logos.
