Henri Bendel (rainshawl TM)

It’s not often that one finds a fresh new perspective in the fashion market.  Enter rainshawl TM.  I disocovered this ultra chic accessory at Upper East Side bastion of chic Henry Bendel.  Next to Harry Winston on 5th avenue the store is one of the most famous in the city.  Established in the 19th century Bendel’s has provided the carriage trade with the best of everything for over a hundred years.  Several times a  year they offer new talent and monied customers the chance to mingle.  The result is a level of opportunity for young designers that few upscale retailers have the cajones to offer.   rainshawl TM is a smart new accessory that the designer, Jude Gabbard promises will replace the ubiquitous pashmina.   Made from 100% silk and waterproofed utilizing new technology, these stoles are the last word in elegance.  Excellent for traveling, and getting from the car to the building.  Jude reccommends that New Yorkers wear them over thier black coats to liven things up a bit.  They can be worn on their own too and are especially useful in climates prone to light rain such as Portland or Seattle or cities that don’t warrant the purchase of a full on coat like Pheonix, Miami and Los Angeles.  The matching rain hats are the most beautiful rain hats we’ve seen in ages.  The vibrant silk patterns are the perfect remedy to dowdy bucket hats and the cut won’t make you look like you work at Hot Dog On A Stick.
