Tokyo: Summer 2006

This is an update from our Tokio Correspondent.  In case you were wondering what was up in Japan this is it.  Katie is a film festival organizer and deeply embedded with Tokio movers and shakers.  One of our best correspondents and our favorite correspondent.   Thanks Katie!

Everything, except for Muji stuff, is so expensive.  I was looking all day today (many sales have started) and I didn't see anything for under $150.
the most beautiful things (the skirts some of which look like works of art) I'm sure you could find in NYC, a lot of it is French.

Tokyo fashion update:
shorts (bermudas and shorter cuffed shorts)
babydoll dresses and tops (usually with jeans)/empire waist full flowy things--sometimes with t-shirts underdeath
sleeveless peasant tops, layered with t-shirts or tanks
sundresses (70's style) with jeans (again, sometimes the tshirt too)
slouchy smock-like dresses, some with low slung waist lines or belts, wtih pants, jeans or leggings
little fitted jackets --high waisted, most short sleeved/slightly puffed sleeves or cap sleeves
slouchy vests to layer over tshirts, camis, etc.
pleated skirts or poofy skirts, below the knee
goucho pants/shorts
tight, tapered pants (cargo style, jeans with lots of zippers and stuff)
