In the early morning hours of July 2, 2009 Aluna entered Radio Bay in Hilo, Hawai’i,

after a swift 16 day passage from San Francisco, California.

Aluna - A Polynesian Style Catamaran Sailboat


It’s name echoes the cosmic principle of the Kogui Indians of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta in Northern Colombia.


It’s shape is inspired by the ancient people of the South Pacific, masters of long distance navigation guided by the stars, and it has been refined and adapted to modern materials by the British design team James Wharram and Hanneke Boon.


It’s destiny is the unknown world lurking beyond the horizon of our fears. Powered by sun and wind it will glide across the sea of consciousness away from the material mind.

But first, it needed to be born...
