Suggestions for Film Archiving

With the sometimes overwhelming amount of film sitting in storage it can be a daunting task to decide where to begin.
STEP ONE: Make a digital transfer. This preserves the film content creating a permanent reproduction of your footage that is not subject to the continual fading and deterioration that effects aging film.
STEP TWO: Decide on media type for archiving. MiniDV Tape, DVD, or Hard Drive. Each have benefits, but all preserve the same digital copy. These archives are ideal for creating personalized DVD’s utilizing home computer editing systems.

STEP THREE (optional): Select all or only portions of your archive for editing. Arrange film clips into specific order. Make adjustments to color and speed. Create chapter markings for easy navigation, and finish by creating the edited DVD.
If you choose to have the final editing done here, We will send you sample copies of your film in a quicktime movie format if needed. These are useful when deciding clip order and which portions if not all your film that will be included on the completed DVD...
Editing can be simply joining film reels together with chapters at each new segment, or adding titles to include dates, names, or comments for each clip.

Whether you choose to edit on your own, or have that segment of production completed here, We will work with you to produce the best film transfer possible. Film Transfer / steps for archiving
