Cook Inlet Literacy Council Goals


Professional Development:

•Provide members with literacy ideas & activities
•Provide access to professional literature/journals through CILC Library
•Provide members with opportunities to apply for grant money to further professional goals.

Advocacy:

•Promote recognition of our members as professional educators who commit to continued learning.
•Promote recognition of teachers, administrators, and community at large through annual Literacy Awards.
•Promote understanding of the literacy process through networking and research.

Partnerships:

•Promote partnerships through community outreach programs
•Promote partnerships with professional organizations
 
Cook Inlet Literacy Council Projects:

Community/Global Outreach:

•Sponsors “Book Basket” program for families in transition and judicial court system

•Organizes book drive for “Operation Santa Claus” in conjunction with the Air National Guard

•Supports “Books for Babies” and parent awareness

•Contributes money for Malawi Education Project

•Supports “Read Alaska” and “Anchorage Reads” projects.

Annual Fall Conference:

•Features nationally recognized speakers, literacy leaders, and popular authors.

•Includes exhibits of professional materials to support literacy learning
