Welcome to our neighborhood. Dickerson Landing is one of the oldest areas of Goshen. Before the Europeans came, a major Potawatomi trail followed the east side of the Elkhart River; in our cemetery lie 14 Goshen mayors, and our first postmaster; through our neighborhood ran the Lincoln Highway, our nation’s first transcontinental highway, and the Goshen electric trolley; at our western portal the Historic Fort Wayne Street Bridge, built in 1898, still spans the Elkhart river; and at Dickerson Landing, boats (including the Matilda Barney, shown above) docked, bringing trade and settlers to Goshen. We are proud of our historical roots.
Our association is dedicated to preserving and restoring our neighborhood, building community, and joining together to make our special area a great place for people of diverse socio-economic status and ethnic backgrounds to live together.
