ENGAGEMENT is the brain child of Dr. Michael Joseph Brown, associate professor of New Testament and Christian Origins at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.  A committed Christian, Dr. Brown felt that another venue needed to be provided for those in the Christian community who desired an alternative to the message of insularity and self-help that has predominated American Christian thinking over the past decade or more, especially for those in the African American community.

ENGAGEMENT does not endorse any particular denominational perspective.  Rather it seeks to bring together Christians of various backgrounds in dialogue around pertinent issues of faith that confront us today.  Through dialogue and mutual edification, ENGAGEMENT seeks to create a community of faith committed to transforming our present society into the proverbial kingdom of God.
