Limatunes’ Diary

Some of my readers know, some of them don’t, that I had to leave my wonderful job at the shop/range because my husband and I were moving to a different state.

We left Pennsylvania and moved to the great state of Virginia, ready to start new lives in a new place. While this is all well and good, it was a time of mixed emotions for me because I didn’t want to leave my job where I had not only learned so much, but had great friends and great experiences.

We left Pennsylvania on Saturday, the 15th of September, 2007, and arrived at our new home in Virginia later on that evening.

It’s been a hectic last few days trying to unpack, reorganize and such.

It’s also been an interesting time of trying to find a place to go shooting and keep up with our firearms practices.

We drove over an hour to go shooting yesterday and while the shooting was fun, it’s always interesting to go to a new range and fit in.

No one knows me down here so no one knows what I’m capable of.

We walked into the range and while my husband wandered off to go looking at the few guns they had for sale there, I told the desk clerk that we had come to rent two (note, I said two) lanes and do some shooting.

She looked at my husband as though waiting for approval.

When my husband finally made it over the clerk turned to the next clerk and said, “They’d like to rent a lane.”

I corrected, “TWO lanes, please.”

Neither clerk must have heard because the second clerk said, “Okay, a lane, and anything else?”

I said, “No. We want TWO LANES.”

“Oh, well good for you,” he said, and smiled.

Both my husband and myself had 100 rounds each to burn and if we’d been competing I would have kicked his butt.

It was good to get some shooting in after over a week of not being able to. Hopefully we’ll find something more local, because an hour trip is pretty far. But, you got to do what you got to do I guess.
