Welcome to the Expedition!

I’m so glad you stopped by! My name is Wendy Gorton, and I’m a 4th grade teacher at Hancock Park School in Los Angeles, California. This year I’m also an Earthwatch Educator Fellow and I’m happy to share my journey with you here online. This grant was made possible through the Helen and Peter Bing Foundation and the National Geographic Education Foundation!

Join me and my 30 4th graders from Room 12 as we prepare ourselves for my expedition to New Orleans, Louisiana to work with researchers and scientists as we study Forest Caterpillars and the effects that the recent hurricanes have had on their ecosystem!

We’re part of a special Earthwatch Program called Live! From the Field, and we’ll be using this website to communicate back and forth with each other and other students interested in the research!
