The Universal Carceral Colloquium Organizing Committee is made up of academics, students, and activists from Canada, including members of the Editorial and Management Boards of the Journal of Prisoners on Prisons (JPP).


On this site, you will find information about the colloquium, including our call for papers. We hope that the colloquium will provide an opportunity to engage in  critical discussion about the global expansion of the carceral archipelago, and about counter-movements and strategies of resistance.


 

The Universal Carceral is a colloquium that will take place as part of the XII International Conference on Penal Abolition (ICOPA), July 23-25, 2008, at Kings College London, UK.


ICOPA XII is being organized an hosted by the Howard League for Penal Reform.
