Good Enough

Having to win the approval of someone else is fine in certain areas of life, like work or sports. But in your spiritual life, a performance-based outlook is the opposite of what Jesus came to leave behind.

If we could perform for God (which would mean to live a sinless life, the only performance that God accepts) then we wouldn’t need Jesus. It’s the very fact that we can’t perform for his acceptance that we end up trusting in Him.

That’s the good news of Jesus. We don’t have to perform any longer. We have been accepted without the need to perform because Jesus’ sacrifice was the only acceptable performance.
