Video Ethical Will™
Video Ethical Will™
What is an Ethical Will?
An Ethical Will/Personal Legacy is an opportunity to share with your loved ones; expressing
such things as your values, blessings and wisdom... in essence, the core of
who you are. It is also a means to pass on life lessons, family traditions and
philosophies.
Is an Ethical Will a legal document?
No, an Ethical Will is not a legal document. It can however, provide personal context to your Legal Will and to your Living Will (Advanced Medical Directive). It should not contradict any element of your estate plan.
What is a Video Ethical Will™?
A Video Ethical Will™ is an Ethical Will in video format. Video, allows you to deliver both a spoken and visual message.
Creating a Video Ethical Will™ does not require any special talent. Communication involves three elements; word, tone of voice and body language. Studies demonstrate that the words account for 7% of the message, while tone of voice provides 38% and body language 45%. Even a skilled writer may struggle to fully communicate the intended message. Penning an Ethical Will is a worthwhile and rewarding experience, however it is labor intensive and therefore, too often postponed.
A Video Ethical Will™ is no more difficult to create than telling a family story, yet it
captures much more of who you are and your intended message.
How do I begin the process?
You will receive a list of questions to help guide you. Together with the interviewer
you will prepare an outline to include everything that is important to you.
When should I create my Video Ethical Will™?
It is never too early to begin the process of creating your Video Ethical Will™. Most
often people chose to create them, when transitioning from one stage of life to another.
It can be updated as desired. Consider it a work in progress.
Who should create a Video Ethical Will™?
Everyone & anyone from middle age and beyond. The benefits are enjoyed by both
the giver and the receiver.
“For children who receive an Ethical Will, it’s probably the most important document they receive.”
-- Malcolm Greenhill, CFP, Sterling Futures, San Francisco (MarketWatch August 8, 2005)
