Pocket Sport Psychology

This series of slides explains why I invented Pocket Sport Psychology, and how it can be used.

Just move your mouse slightly to the left to the right across the slide to advance (or to slightly the left to go back) the slides when you are ready so you can read them at your own pace.

Double clicking on the first picture in the sequence will open all slides at one time if you prefer to read them that way.

I’ve noticed that the Pocket Sport Psychology CD would be a fabulous resource for Victorian secondary school Unit 4 PE teachers. For instance, outcome 2 in the Victorian curriculum asks for a demonstration of the ways in which sport psychologists work with elite athletes, and the content on this CD in particular shows the use of muscle relaxation methods and the use of key words and suggestion to build feelings of competence and empowerment. I’ll definitely be using it with my students. It’s totally spot on for the time effect and I’m sure it would be beneficial for any athlete.

In my role I provide 1-1 counselling services to AFL footballers. I have found the pocket sport psychology series to be an excellent way to offer private, in-the-moment sport psych for athletes using familiar technology and user-friendly language. The grabs are short and get to the heart of self-talk for athletes.
