Pocket General Psychology
Pocket General Psychology
2009
A series of downloadable files have been created to enable them to be added to a small screen, hand-held device that has .m4v capability and whose content is managed by iTunes (such as an iPhone, iPod, or PSP) to remind athletes and coaches of productive thoughts and behaviours that are most likely to lead to competitive success, and enjoyment of sport. (Files can also be loaded onto larger devices, such as a computer or AppleTV, but only via the iTunes application.)
Benefits of Pocket General Psychology and Pocket Health Psychology titles
Each title is less than 2 minutes long.
Using their own equipment, and headphones, users may select a title from the range to listen to at their own convenience. Each track begins with a relaxation phase, to ‘quieten the mind’ so that the positive messages (in the second half of the track) can be introduced most effectively.
Files can be downloaded in a ‘medium’ (suitable for iPod, or computer in a 480x320 format, approx 5MB in size) or ‘mobile’ (suitable for iPhone, AppleTV or computer in a 640x424 format, approx 4MB in size) quality, designed to fit the size of the hand held device screen. They are moved from the CD to the ‘movies’ icon in iTunes (see instructions, below). Files for a PSP need to be moved to the VIDEO folder of the PSP’s memory stick.
Note: For files to be downloaded to hand held devices without a screen, they need to be downloaded from the CD to the ‘music’ icon in iTunes, not the ‘movies’ icon (see instructions page).
The Pocket General Psychology CD-ROM includes the following .m4v and .mp4 titles:
Anger management
Anxiety
Bereavement
Confidence
Depression
Focus and attention
Perseverance
Positive attitudes
Reaffirming my goals
Return from injury
Bonus track: Coping with Change (from the Pocket Health Psychology range of titles)
