Power surge

Tal: I was going to write about something else today but your comment to ZL yesterday left my heart beating fast and my adrenaline rushing; I just had to save my original topic for another day. In fact yesterday afternoon when I originally wrote this, I was even tempted to post my blog last night because I feel so strongly about this subject. Am I upset about what you had to say? Let’s just say I am a little bit charged. Read on....

Again, I do not consider myself a feminist whatever that word means, but I do support women wholeheartedly and in regards to our government, I support as many women as possible who are running for office. I have many times in the past voted for any and all women running on election day. Which means that if a woman was running for office in any area over a man, she got my vote. When I have voiced this to other women I’ve always gotten a look like I am crazy or something. But to me a less qualified woman can do no worse than some of these so-called qualified and experienced men in office, (and most likely much better if she could just get into office!) and the more women there to support the women in and out of office, the better. “Have men done such a great job in the past that we should allow them to always run our country, let alone make decisions about our lives that only pertain to women?!” There have been and are women running other countries - why not the good ol’ US of A?! I can’t tell you how many women I have challenged with this question and still I get paltry whiny little answers like, “I don’t think I could vote for a woman President.” “I don’t think a woman can handle the Presidency.” Wah Wah Wah...! “And you really think that men are doing such a great job?” I practically shout. Get some gumption ladies and start sticking up for your sistas! And I am not trying to be cute or coquettish here; I really am asking you to stick up for our gender. FYI: A very close older female relative, I love her dearly, but sometimes...well...let me just say that she made a comment similar to the two above - I was shocked and I let her know exactly why. Simpleminded comments like that infuriate me to no end.

But women still continue to vote men into office. I can’t believe that women are 51% of the voting population and yet we still can’t seem to get more women into office - Why? Simple: Because women are not voting for women! Yes, we need more women to run but what encourages them more than anything else? Women who run for office and...actually win! Hello...Let’s get the momentum going. It bothers me that Oprah who is such a supporter of women has taken on Obama encouraging women to vote for him - Okay, so it is pretty obvious why, but doesn’t that say it all? Nothing against Obama; I like him, but oh the power and the reach that that woman has....

I am obviously passionate about this subject. Especially when I hear women complaining about this and that over what the government has done or decided over their lives and rights. Well...why would you think anything different would happen when you leave a man in control of your body?! It is time to wake up. Women talk all of the time about women power. Does something bad have to happen to a woman to get support from a woman? I get emails from women; poems of how women will always be there for support and encouragement when the man has run out on her or cheated on her, etc., etc. - the poem always ends with, “...a woman will always be there.” Blah, Blah Blah...It’s not that I don’t appreciate the meaning behind it but how about supporting me when I am rising to the top? Well ladies, where are all of the women now when the women rising to the top need us to support them in some of the most important positions in our government? Let’s take a stand here. Now is the time. Want to have a huge impact in the coming elections? Vote for all women whenever you can. I have before and I will again. Well...now you know where I stand.

Lastly, that whole tampon story that you blogged is a bunch of ____! I am not familiar...Was that sometime in the 50’s? Unbelievable. I don’t blame you Tal for coming to this planet as a man. Thanks for the inspiration today....to be able to blog what I have been feeling for so long in this area is liberating.

Oh...in regards to the comment on music...are you referring to how different types of music can bring about different emotions such as sadness, happiness, etc? I know that when a good song comes on that moves me, I am instantly transformed from maybe not feeling so great to feeling fantastic. Or are you talking about something entirely different? - please clarify.

ZL: The name of the ranch is called Morris Grassfed Beef. They only sell Direct Market and to a few small farmer’s markets in No Ca.: A split-half, which is a half of beef split into two equal portions, is $6.30/lb and weighs about 80-100 lbs - you store the meat - you will need 4.5 cubic feet of storage. Or you can order a CSA style spilt-half which is $7.10/lb which includes storage, delivery (3x/yr) and processing costs. I was hoping that they could split a split-half and we could each get one of the equal portions, however not sure about shipping. It is not organic but I like what I read in the faqs section. If you are interested in going in on this let me know and I will email them.
I also found a wonderful website that is not only great as an organic food source but for other local items as well: Local Harvest, I think you’ll really like it. I could spend hours on this website.
