La Arcada Thank You for “City Parks, Domestic & Wild” July 28 & 29, 2007,
La Arcada/Library Arts Plaza

As Site-Chair of the weekend show “City Parks, Domestic & Wild,” I gained a newfound respect for
SCAPE. We have some extremely gifted and hardworking individuals who labor to grace this
community with their art. It is hard work to put this show on and I want to thank all who helped us
reach our combined goals to perfect our works and to help make this show a success as a creative
and gifted team effort. Everyone really stepped up with some great and entirely original paintings of
the Douglas Family Preserve. We showed many different styles and one of kind pieces. The weather
was great both days and the music was a perfect match to enjoy viewing the many creative original
creations by our SCAPE artists and guest artists.

Juror Manny Lopez said the following in his juror’s statement:
I think the overall consistency in the quality of the work through the diversity of styles and media
speaks well of the artists that came together to put on this show. It’s very impressive. The awards
were difficult to choose given the many equally deserving choices. The first place, JP Martin’s
“Multiplicity” and second place, Morgan Green’s “A Beach for Friends” I chose for the clear
expressive quality in the compositions and the emotion-stirring use of color.

At our two shows in July, SCAPE sold nearly 60 paintings. Of these 24 were sold for the Friends
of the DFP/PARC and PARC sold several at their Preview Reception. Our average price per painting
increased from $400 to $500 this year and 34 paintings were sold at the “Islands & Estuaries” show.
Other exciting results of the shows were invitations to several of our artists to be represented in local
galleries as well as offers of painting commissions.
