Art & Learning

The K-8 art program at Mar Lee gives the students  a chance to do more than just create beautiful pictures and sculptures.  They learn to develop higher level thinking, work on original problem solving, expand their cultural and global awareness and learn and practice basic art skills and theories.  Classes focus on art history, elements of design, drawing, painting, weaving, construction of three-dimensional art and cross curricular activities.

The Art Program at Mar Lee has been the recipient of grants from the National Art Education Association. The program recently moved into a new 1000 square foot studio space at the west end of the school building.

Art teacher Michele Graff MacInnes received her B.F.A from Maryland Institute College of Art. Her work has appeared in galleries in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island.
