Zoonar - New german site to me but sales are already trickling in. -
Yaymicro - New site, easy to upload but no sales since launch. -
Crestock - A steady performing site that is starting to pick up. -
Mostphotos - New site, looks classy. Midstock price structure. slow sales -
Zymmetrical - A site with great potential. Friendly and helpful. -
iStock - The other top 2 site, painful to upload to but worth it sales wise. -
BigStockPhoto - Painful eps upload (cut and paste keywords). Sales slowly rising. -
CanStock - Recent jump in sales since joining with Fotosearch. Easy to upload to. -
123RF - Fresh clean site, easy to upload to. Sales can be slow but steady. -
FeaturePics - Slightly dated site with steady sales where you can set your own price. -
3D Studio - 3D model site that has just started selling microstock. -
Zoonar - Small german microstock site that is worth a punt. -
ScanStockPhoto - Small fry in the stock world but easy to upload to, just ticks over. -

Fotolia - Recently launched a video side to the site...wait and see if the sales come. -
iStock - Just reopened its site to new submitters...video is just taking off. -

What is Stock photography? - Basically its a place where both professional and amateurs can sell there images online.
Can anyone do it? - Yes as long as you can produce photos of a high quality (without noise and good composition), then yes you can sell your images online.
How about illustrations? - The stock world isn't limited to photography, many site allow you to submit illustrations, 3d, flash and video files.
How can I buy an image? - Its easy and you have a very wide range of sites to choose from (see the links above). You can either buy images on a single file basis or buy a subscription (for a week, month or year).
I like your artwork can I commission some direct with you? - Of course you can, I work directly with many customers and your artwork would be exclusively to you. Please e-mail me at nicemonkey@mac.com
I like the idea of selling my images but where can I find out more information? - There are many stock photography forums such as Photographicfreedom, MicroStockForum, MicroStockGroup, TalkMicro and Photopreneur that have all of the up to date information and other stock people who are more than willing to help.
