New project

As if I didn't have enough to do I have now dabbled in some design home work in the guise of my other love in my life Mountain biking. Kingdom Bikes have launched a competition to design a mountain bike frame, my entry...the “Mud Plugger” is one of two design that has currently reached the 3d mock up stage.

Any feed back on the site would be gratefully received...especially if it means my design will make it into the physical world.

Another site shutting down

Over christmas Zymmetrical announced that they are closing their doors for good. Artist need not worry as all the photographs and illustrations have been removed and outstanding payments have been sent out.

Over all this closure has little impact on the stock community as a hole as Zymmetrical was quite a small agency with a very small slice of the market but it does put another nail in the coffin of other small agencies and strengthen the big twos position in the market. Zymmetrical took a more ethical position towards artist offering them a bigger slice of the profits than most.

As the saying goes with every cloud there is a silver lining and that comes in the form of Flyerstarter.com which is brought to you by Keith Tuomi the man behind Zymmetrical and offer artist the chance to sell flyer designs, night club poster etc to the public. Flyerstarter.com isn't a new venture but one that has been going since 2003 and hopefully with Keith now full time behind the project will reach a wider audience.

Where to sell vector illustrations

When I first started stock illustrations the sites mainly catered for photographers. Now that most of the sites support vectors there might be a few hidden Gems that you have missed off the usual beaten track.

So from the kindness of my heart and the lure of getting rich from riding on the back of the earning from all your affiliate referrals I am willing to share my little secret sites!

Cluster Shot is the new micro stock site that lets you put a shop front on it and link it direct to your own home page giving the impression that the customer is buying from you.

Sounds good but a bit complicated...far from it, it couldn't be simpler. You upload your image (via ftp) as any other site and your images magically appear in your site. For additional $20 You can add a title page text and choose the images that a are presented on your home page as well as Watermark the images and custom domain names, these all form part of the “Pro package”.
