The Student Math League was founded in 1970 by Nassau Community College in New York. In 1981, the American Mathematical Association of Two-Year Colleges (AMATYC) began sponsoring the competition. Today the League has grown to more than 165 colleges in more than thirty-five states involving over eight thousand community college math students.
The Student Math League is a contest consisting of two one-hour exams. The first exam is given in the fall and the second in the spring. Each exam consists of 20 multiple choice questions covering precalculus material (e.g. algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and statistics). The top 5 competitors from the fall and spring rounds represent Ventura College as a team in the national competition. Please click here for more information on the competition.
All Ventura College students are welcome to participate. If you have any further questions, please email me at vcmathclub@me.com
